Zuckerman Receives Three More High Profile Endorsements: Our Revolution, AFSCME Council 93, and CWA Local 1400

BURLINGTON: Today, the Zuckerman for Vermont campaign released three more high-profile organizational endorsements for David Zuckerman in his bid for Governor: Our Revolution, and Vermont Unions AFSCME Council 93, and CWA Local 1400.

Our Revolution is a national organization that emerged following Bernie Sanders’ 2016 campaign. It is comprised of 600 groups around the country with hundreds of thousands of members and is particularly known for its “massive grassroots base of small dollar donors.”

Executive Director of Our Revolution, Joseph Geevarghese said:

“Our Revolution is committed to building a progressive powerhouse here in Vermont.” He continued,From the top of the ticket, with David Zuckerman, all the way down to local races, we will be supporting true progressive champions with our grassroots-fueled people power. Across the country and in Vermont, people are clamoring for real, transformational change, not incrementalism -- and we believe these candidates will get us there.”

AFSCME Council 93 represents more than 45,000 state, county and municipal employees in Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Vermont.

Mark Bernard, the Executive Director of AFSCME Council 93 said:

“AFSCME Council 93 is proud and excited to endorse David Zuckerman in his campaign for governor.  David has a long and established track record of supporting organized labor as both a member of the Vermont House and Senate and as the state’s current lieutenant governor. Our work with David dates back many years. In 2013, he was a strong supporter of our union’s landmark legislation to secure collective bargaining rights for Vermont’s homecare workers. Throughout his 23-year career in public service, he has been a consistent and vocal advocate for public-sector services and most importantly, the AFSCME members who deliver these services. We have always been able to count on David to do more than just support our issues.  We know that we can rely on him to lead the fight. We look forward to working hard to elect him as the next leader of Vermont.”

The Communications Workers of America is the largest communications and media labor union in the United States. CWA Local 1400 specifically represents 1200 members.

Don Trementozzi, President of CWA Local 1400 said:

"It is with great pleasure that the Communication Workers of America, Local 1400, are supporting and endorsing David Zuckerman's campaign for Vermont Governor. Considering all the struggles with the Labor Movement, it is imperative that CWA Local 1400 supports candidates with strong track records in support of unions and labor initiatives like David Zuckerman who will advocate for the working middle class. We look forward to working together with Governor Zuckerman on labor-based legislative issues."

These three high-profile endorsements join an impressive list of other national and Vermont-based organizations supporting David Zuckerman for Governor including: The VT AFL CIO, The Vermont Sierra Club, People for the American Way, and Rights & Democracy.
